This is not an Italian restaurant (knew this). We had the burger and fries and a smoked meat sandwich and onion rings. The burgers are homemade and a good size. The smoke meat sandwich was huge. The onion rings were slightly over cooked and that's the only fault I can report. Friendly small town atmosphere with great coffee!

All over the map -- we wish it was more reliable. I'm a fan of the fried zucchini. We've experienced burnt pizza on pre-made crust; the sauce is spiced (cinnamon? cloves?) in a way that I find is either 'love it or hate it' for those who experience it. Beware of stuff like ordering a cheese omelette and finding the 'cheese' a Kraft Single sort of 'cheese.' Fries are not fresh-cut. Sometimes you can get a great sandwich. Service is decent to exceptional, though the extremely high turn-over does not suggest great things about the management.
Reasonable expectations -- small-town your-only-choice place, has a deep fryer and some cold beer -- will keep you happy enough. Double-check your take-away orders before leaving -- sometimes the fried zucchini "with extra lemon wedges, please" will come with two containers of (quite good!) dip and a generous container of lemon wedges; sometimes the dip is forgotten, sometimes all lemon is forgotten -- reliability is not a strong suit. If you're not getting your food to go, note that it now has a nice small patio...
Haven't had one, but one specialty is a basic enormous farmer's dinner from 1962: big plate of meat, corn, potatoes; your choice of pudding or cubed Jell-O for dessert, all at a pretty low price.
Cheez omelettes aside, it's a decent greasy spoon for breakfast -- real maple syrup for the pancakes, no shortage of coffee -- the maple syrup is of course a necessity in Lanark Co, 'the maple syrup capital of Ontario.' -

The fries were from frozen, which is not ideal but would have been okay if the oil hadn't needed changing. I'm pretty certain the gravy on the hot beef sandwich came from a box, some kind of powder that was meant to be added to natural meat juices but wasn't, just whipped up with water into an oozing dark brown salty-sweet flavourless product that engulfed everything on the plate. I'd read the reviews so knew not to order pizza or omelette. So you can add hot beef sandwich to that think-twice list.

the true test of a restuarant is whether the can poach an egg free floating and not use the little cups.....they poach them properly, however their hashbrowns were kinda soft and greasy.

Breakfast was very good. Eggs were very fresh, and home fries were crispy. My daughter said the bacon was her favourite part. Recommended
